Tasmanian Black is an ornamental chilli whose fruits change colour from green to purple-black and finally to a smoky red. The narrow, glossy fruits bring black, purple and dark green tones to the bush.

Its heat is 5,000 - 30,000 SHU, medium, and the flavour is full and earthy, reminiscent of cayenne. The variety works in salsas, sauces and stir-fries.

The plant stays compact and does well in a pot, a bed or a balcony box, both indoors and outdoors.
