Aqua Master EC 1413 is a standardised calibration solution for EC meters (electrical conductivity meters). The solution has a nominal value of 1413 µS/cm and is intended for calibrating an EC meter and checking its accuracy in regular use. The calibration solution is suitable for hydroponics, soil, coco coir and monitoring nutrient solutions.

Regular calibration of an EC meter is essential for reliable, repeatable readings. A correctly calibrated EC meter helps you control the strength of the nutrient solution and the water quality, reducing the risk of incorrect readings and over- or underfeeding.

The EC value of the calibration solution is defined at 25 °C. EC depends on temperature, and the measured conductivity changes with temperature. Reference values for the same solution at different temperatures:

20 °C: approx. 1278 µS/cm

25 °C: 1413 µS/cm (standard value)

30 °C: approx. 1554 µS/cm

The EC value changes on average by about 2 % per degree. EC meters with automatic temperature compensation (ATC) correct the value automatically to the 25 °C standard. Without ATC, the reading varies with temperature, which should be taken into account when measuring and calibrating.

To calibrate, immerse the EC meter's probe in the calibration solution and adjust the meter to read 1413 µS/cm according to the device manufacturer's instructions. Rinse the probe with clean water after use. Do not pour used calibration solution back into the bottle, so that the solution stays accurate.

Keep the calibration solution tightly closed at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Stored correctly and used regularly, EC calibration solution helps ensure a long life for your meter and reliable readings.
